up fashion magazine
as creative director of up fashion magazine, i am responsible for the conception and execution of all visual media in three printed, seasonal magazines. working alongside the editor-in-chief (haley jena) and publisher (kevin o’hara) i help to manage the 150-person organization which is broken into several teams including styling, photography, writing, blogging, marketing, social media, videography, and layout design.
i personally manage a team of 12 layout designers–taking on the role of an art director, while also designing content of my own for the magazine. upon deciding on the issue theme, i creatively direct the overall vision–photo direction, design guidelines, and creation of mood boards to lead the styling teams. after acquiring magazine content, i am responsible for the creation of the issue–from indesign document, to preflight, to sending the issue to our third-party printer.
this year, i spearheaded the re-brand of up magazine. this included a complete refresh of our brand guidelines (typography, layout, etc.), cover design, use of logo, and improved social presence. additionally, myself, haley, and kevin, worked effortlessly to improve communication between teams–creating a new process for developing and directing individual stories, in terms of both content and visuals.

winter 2019 issue captivate
this issue, we were inspired by the magic of every day–the little things that captivate us and cause us to look up and wonder. my creative vision for this shoot was very much motivated by an ethereal nature, very reminiscent of dior.
note: personally Designed cover, contents, staff list, editor letter, definition page, photo editorials (Into the Woods, Wintry Wonders, Seeing Double, and Femme), last word pages, “Seeing Stars” story, and art directed/helped guide layout designers in creation of individual story designs.
fall 2018 issue empower
empower was our first issue of the season. motivated by our goal to promote diversity, we chose to use this first issue as an catalyst to inspire confidence in every student on campus. i photographed 4 separate covers for this issue–hoping anyone who interacted with the magazine could see themselves in some way. my creative vision was very inspired by confidence, strength, and simple clothing that allowed the subject to speak for themselves.
